PCA and PRI Celebrate Black History Month with Art Exhibit
The Plant Cell Atlas (PCA), in collaboration with the Plant Resilience Institute (PRI) is excited to announce that the art exhibit featuring historically significant Black scholars in plant science from last year is back this February to honor Black History Month. This year, the exhibit is located on the first floor of the STEM Teaching & Learning Facility on campus at Michigan State University.
PCA and PRI Celebrate Black History Month with Art Exhibit
The Plant Cell Atlas (PCA), in collaboration with the Plant Resilience Institute (PRI) is excited to announce that the art exhibit featuring historically significant Black scholars in plant science from last year is back this February to honor Black History Month. This year, the exhibit is located on the first floor of the STEM Teaching & Learning Facility on campus at Michigan State University.
The exhibit includes banners that celebrate the works of prominent Black scientists such as George Washington Carver and Marie Clark Taylor, as well as a banner describing the cultural importance of African Ethnobotanical knowledge. Each banner displays artwork that highlights these trailblazers designed by Maxwell Eckelbarger.
This exhibit is a part of the PCA Art and Science Exhibit, which travels to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and primarily undergraduate institutions to raise awareness of the impact that plant research can have on society, the environment, and the economy.
Both PCA and PRI share a goal to increase Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) undergraduate student interest in plant sciences and to foster a more diverse and inclusive scientific community.

They discuss challenges and guidelines for single-cell/nucleus transcriptomics in plants to increase the reproducibility and usefulness of these datasets.
