Plant Cell Atlas Code of Conduct


​Plant Cell Atlas (PCA) is committed to an inclusive and harassment-free environment for all of our conferences, workshops, and events. This applies to all meeting participants including, but not limited to, staff members, participants, speakers, and panelists. Plant Cell Atlas is dedicated to upholding the following principles.

Transparency
All of our data and resources are open source and freely available. Access can be found through various links on our website. We adhere to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) guidelines for all of our products. 


Inclusivity
We welcome people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to people of any gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, social and economic class, education level, age, country of origin, or religion.


Respect
PCA encourages lively debates in the spirit of discussion and progress. However, all discussions must be conducted in a respectful manner. Members should refrain from personal attacks or threatening language. All discussions and debate should remain civil and courteous.

Anti-Harassment
Plant Cell Atlas is dedicated to providing a harassment-free environment for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of PCA members or conference participants in any form. Members violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the PCA at the discretion of the steering committee. 


Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
  • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, social and economic class, education level, age, country of origin, or religion.

  • Sexual images in public spaces.

  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following .

  • Harassing photography or recording.

  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events.

  • Inappropriate physical contact.

  • Unwelcome sexual attention.

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. PCA organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants. 

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. You can make a report to one of the two Designated Safety Officers (DSO) for the event. DSOs will consist of one (1) onsite person, if the meeting is in person, and one (1) PCA representative. One officer will be a woman and one will be a man. The contact information for the DSOs will be available on the event page or can be obtained by contacting
plantcellatlas@gmail.com.
