Science News

Top third of the Plant Physiology cover for the February 2022 issue, volume 188, number 2. Left stamen shows heat map of cellular growth with red cells growing faster than blue cells. Right stamen shows the development of individual cellular clones marked with different colors. This design shows modularity and repetition in plant development, diversity and heterogeneity in underlying cells and tissues, and the genetic information underneath. Image adapted from Silveira et al. 769-781 Image credit: Image of developing stamens provided by Daniel Kierzkowski (Department of Biological Sciences, IRBV, University of Montre´al, Montre´al, Quebec, Canada). Image composition by Sarah Friedrich (Department of Botany, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI).
